What is Fortnighter?

Fortnighter matches travelers with trusted, on-the-ground intelligence. Through an experienced network of the world's best travel writers, we provide itineraries customized for your exact interests, anywhere in the world, delivered in seven days.

Why does it exist?

Whenever we travel, we frequently ask for recommendations from friends and associates, but not everyone has a well-versed contact that is interested in the same things. We're seeking to make travel better and more insightful for everyone.

Why would I use it?

Between flights, hotels and transport, you're investing a lot of money on a trip. We provide up-to-the-minute intelligence to help you have the best possible experience.

How can I trust the information?

We've put together a network of the best travel writers in the world. In between assignments for publications like the New York Times or Lonely Planet, they create custom itineraries for our users.

Can't I just rely on friends to tell me what is good?

Sure, but we bet there's a chance you don't have a perfect contact in every city you travel to. Even then, does one visit make them an expert?

How would the writer know what I like?

From your profile, where you tell us your preferences from type of hotel to day trips and favorite types of cuisine.

How is this different from a travel guide?

Travel guides are great, but the information in them is often out of date by the time they hit the shelves, thanks to the slow speed of the publishing industry. Fortnighter's recommendations will take you to the latest and greatest places. Use a guidebook, and you're getting last year's greatest hits.

Who is involved? Who are the writers?

Fortnighter was formed by three media and advertising executives who spend a disproportionate amount of time on the road around the world. The other partner, Alexander Basek, is a noted travel writer who has contributed to Travel + Leisure, New York Magazine, Fodor's and the New York Post.

How long does it take to get my itinerary?

Each Fortnighter itinerary is custom researched and written just for you by an expert travel writer. Your order can take up to one week to be fulfilled.

How will I know it’s ready?

As soon as your Fortnighter itinerary is prepared, it will be made available to download in PDF format from your Fortnighter Account page. You will receive an e-mail notification alerting you as to its availability.

There's a lot of travel content out there. Is this worth paying for?

How often have you wanted to find in-depth information about a specific hotel or place to visit on vacation, only to be inserted into a nightmarish maze of TripAdvisor reviews and low authority travel sites, SEO'd straight to the top of the results? Besides, how can someone know what the best hotel in Hawaii is if they’ve only been to Hawaii once? Do you really want to trust someone’s recommendation of the best French restaurant in Dallas, without knowing if they’ve ever been to France? When you work with Fortnighter, there’s no guesswork. Our writers have been around the world and know what real luxury and real value is--and isn't.

Why does it cost that much?

Our fees are a small price to pay for a customized itinerary, written by a noted travel writer with expert experience in a particular city.

What if I don't want to buy a fully customized itinerary?

Stay tuned. We'll be launching great pre-made itineraries. We'll let you know when they're available.

How does Fortnighter pay its writers?

We share revenue, 75 percent to the writer and 25 percent to us.
